Newport Harbor Lutheran School

Welcome to Our School

Come Discover Our Wonderful New School at the Round Up

Newport Harbor Lutheran School views your child as a unique creation of God meant to fulfill a special purpose in the world. By partnering with God, parents and students, we strive to provide a solid spiritual and educational foundation on which each child can build for the future. Our goal is to instill in our students a love of God and His Word, as well as to develop academic capabilities to ensure your child’s life-long success.

Early childhood is the most formative and impressionable period. Our program challenges the children to discover, use, and fully develop their individual talents and spiritual gifts. In addition we emphasize character education, integrating Christian values into our academic curriculum.

Newport Harbor Lutheran School is an exciting and thriving ministry of Newport Harbor Lutheran Church. We are a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, that has, since 1945, been helping people in Newport Beach and the surrounding communities take shelter in the God who is bigger than life’s biggest storms. For over 30 years we have operated an outstanding early childhood program at our preschool. We are now responding to the numerous requests that have been made for us to also provide a high quality educational program for elementary school-age children. The school expansion plan is scheduled to unfold gradually, with one grade per year being added until we reach the 6th grade. We currently have an innovative, academic program for Pre-K, Kindergarten and First Grade (now enrolling for fall 2014). This full-day program is designed to promote positive socialization, hands-on learning, and emergent literacy. After a year of pre-kindergarten, children advance to kindergarten. We insist that each faculty member for the elementary school be a well qualified professional, who is not only fully credentialed in this state, but who is also passionate about teaching. Our staff will be working with a curriculum that builds onto a strong academic foundation with numerous extra-curricular activities, which are no longer offered in public schools. With state of the art classrooms and small class sizes, we are able to provide individualized attention that will offer every student the chance to exceed California standards, while still learning traditional Christian values that will help them become exemplary members of society.

In an environment of love and trust we provide:

· A safe and beautiful campus
· Low student-to-teacher ratio
· Committed, passionate fully-credentialed teachers
· Curriculum exceeding state standards
· Constructive physical activity
· Extra-curricular activities – music, drama and art
· Training in computer technology
· Weekly children’s chapel
· Environment of Christian beliefs and values
